When I was growing up in China, I had no idea what it meant to be raised by my parents. I did not know that there were different definitions of love between my parents and I. My parents did not express their love to me in the same way that they expressed their love for each other. Love between parents and children is usually not expressed in the same way. When you grow up in a culture where the language does not support the emotion, then it is hard to see that emotion or hear that emotion.
